We introduced the project I-49 of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes in Patna, along with two other NGOs for ‘Reducing Substance Abuse related HIV Vulnerability in Female Drug Users and Female Partners of Male Drug Users’.
This project started on 5th November 2005 and our key persons, opinion leaders and other social workers helped us in implementing this program.
A series of training has been conducted on HIV/AIDS and Dr. Ashok Kumar Sinha, the then Project Director of our ‘Savera’ Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts, took the lead, who himself is a Master Trainer in the field of ‘Prevention of Drug Abuse & HIV/ AIDS’.
Under this aforesaid project these specific points have been taken carefully:
Female members of family are very much neglected in the community, because of this the male drug user of the family harass them physically, mentally and economically.
Amongst most of females coming from the lower class & some of them from lower middle class, working as maids or in small business / industrial establishments, their spouses take their salary forcefully from them for maintaining their addiction and sex desires etc. So, the area is the most vulnerable.
We are still extending our best possible dedicated services to the suffering humanity specially our women folks in order to bring a pragmatic change in the society.
