A team from ‘International Labor Organisation’ (ILO) had visited us in the year 1995 and this team was highly impressed by our work done towards the society in the area of Drug De-Addiction and had appreciated our concerted efforts towards building a Drug Free Nation.
The team consisted of Mr. Mukhtiyar Singh, IAS, (National Project Coordinator), Dr. Diwakar, Director (National Institute of Social Defense), Govt. of India., Mr. Arun Kumar Singh I.A.S, Director, Department of Welfare, Govt. of Bihar.
The ILO had then declared our Centre as a Centre of Excellence in Bihar and it was an occasion of cheer and pride for us that our Centre could found a place among the Top 18 best-suited Drug De-Addiction Centers nationally, selected by the International Labor Organisation.
Subsequently, we have entered into an agreement with the International Labor Organisation through their Geneva Office, for “Developing Community Drug Rehabilitation and Work-place Prevention Programme”.
Our staff members have been trained by International Labor Organisation under this Program at City levels, National levels and International levels.
In the year 1996, our Chairman, Mr. Anil Kumar Sinha undertook an International Training (Study Tour), by visiting drug prone countries like Thailand & Hong-Kong of South East Asia for three weeks.
The various kinds of drugs and method of treatment were made known and taught through lectures & practical classes, while remaining in a very close observation with the (Patients) there.
Again, in the year 1997, the same opportunity was offered for Singapore & Malaysia, and this time Dr. Sanjay Kant Prasad, our Psychologist had represented us. (Dr. Prasad is at present Dy. Director, IGNOU).
This association of ours with International Labor Organisation is highly beneficial in strengthening our workforce, which has delivered excellent global standard services & rehabilitation techniques to our clients.
The rehabilitation program, which we have undertaken in the community, as per ILO module has been a great success.
On behalf of ILO, we also got the privilege to organize a seven days seminar in October 1996, at Patna, Bihar for imparting training to staff of Drug De -Addiction Centers & Community Workers.
A great scholar Dr. James Chang from Hong Kong (written many books but his famous book “Social Marketing”) who is an International Campaigner on Drug De-addiction, was the master trainer for all the seven days along with other prominent personalities like Mr. Mukhtiyar Singh, I.A.S., National Project Coordinator of ILO, Eminent psychologist Dr. Shamshad Hussein, Vice Chancellor (Magadh University), Dr. R. P. Tripathi - Senior Professor of Patna University & Secretary of Family Planning Association of India, Patna Branch & Dr. M. P. Verma, President, Rotary Club of Patna who actively participated in this program.
This training was an eye opener and revealed the methodology of “Whole Person Recovery”
We have also taken up the work-place prevention program at the “Accountants Generals Office” at Patna with the mutual support and personal interest of the Accountant General (Mr. Arun Kumar Singh) himself.
